Colleen was the leader of the Recycling Association in St. Croix, US Virgin Islands from 2009 – 2013. She and other dedicated volunteers wrote and managed over $70,000 in grants to re-establish aluminum can recycling on St. Croix. Aluminum and steel cans may now be recycled at the Peter’s Rest Convenience Center. A portion of the can proceeds go to the Boys & Girls Club of the Virgin Islands. The Recycling Association (nick named RAVI and St Croix Recycles) officially became part of the larger group – St Croix Environmental Association in 2012.
In addition to managing the Recycling Association Colleen provided graphic, marketing and branding expertise for the groups initiatives that included reusable cloth bags, reusable cups, recycle bins, stickers, signage, banners, ads, articles, and educational materials.
